There are literally dozens of software programmes available to help
with your research.

Some programmes are made freely available via the internet either
as trial versions, freeware and shareware, or as cover disks given
away wirh computer magazines for those with a limited budget.

The main criteria to bear in mind is whether your software supports
"gedcom" files. With gedcom you can share your work with friends
or transfer your files between different software applications.
